STYLE GUIDE PART 2

In Part 1 of the Style Guide, we shared style tips to help you transition from day to evening wear.

Part 2, we’re discussing makeup and hair. We know the non-profit fundraising season means a grueling schedule, with long days that bleed into the night. Here are some tips to make that shift from day to evening flawless and easy.

Tip #1 A Quick Pick Me Up

You don’t have to remove your makeup and start from scratch just because you want a different evening look.

Make the day-to-evening transition simple by touching up your foundation, powder and add another swish of blush to amplify your cheekbones. Keep these layers fairly light so that your key features can take center stage. To make your look last well into the night, try a product like Make Up For Ever’s Mist & Fix Setting Spray, which sets your makeup and adds moisture to your skin. Tip #2 The Eyes Have It

Traditional makeup advice states that you should choose one feature to highlight — eyes or lips.

When making a quick and smooth transition from day to evening, we agree. That doesn’t mean neglecting the one or the other! You’ll still want to amp up both for a polished evening of non-profit fundraising. If you want your eyes to steal the show, add thicker or darker eyeliner, double up on mascara, and layer some smoke over your daytime shadow. If you find that applying eyeliner is a frustrating task, check out Vamp Stamp. It’s literally a makeup stamp that flawlessly applies eyeliner wings to the corner of your eyes. They come in a range of sizes/thicknesses depending on how dramatic a look you want. For a less dramatic eye, try the smallest of the Vamp Stamps and go easy on the smokey shadow. Click on images below to find your favorite style product.

Tip #3 Pucker Up

Daytime look, nude and light shades or medium mauve lip shades work well.

For a more dramatic and attention-grabbing evening lip color, use a darker shade that has a fair amount of red or purple. If you want to keep the attention on your eyes, use the same tone as your daytime color, but go a shade or two darker. Whether you’re going for a more dramatic or subtle lip look, we recommend using a long-lasting, moisturizing matte lipstick for evening non-profit fundraising events.

Two fantastic options are Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick by Laura Mercier (a twist-up crayon style) and All Day Liquid Lipstick by Stila (a liquid that uses a wand applicator). Both are available in a wide range of colors. Click on images below to find your favorite style product.

Tip #4 Keep Your Strands Simple

Hair styling can be time consuming, why not keep it simple so you can focus on your non-profit fundraising goals?

Your eyes or lips are already stealing the show, so let your hair compliment your look instead of competing with it. If you had it up all day, you may want to switch up by letting it down. Long and sleek is a great evening look.

Other elegant looks appropriate for non-profit fundraising include a chignon, a low ponytail and having the right fastener will make this look more classy than casual. Another option is an inside-out ponytail for a romantic look.

If you have short hair, use your flat iron and a hair-smoothing product for an ultra sleek look. We love Paul Mitchell’s Smoothing Super Skinny Serum.

But really, if you already have a hairstyle you love, why mess with it?

As we discussed in Part 1 of the style guide, confidence is the best accessory. If Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of Vogue can always have her hair the same, regardless of the time of day or activity, you can too! Click on images to find your favorite style product.

Tip #5 Add Some Sparkle

One sure-fire way to quickly add some magic to your evening look is with a bit of sparkle. This is so easy to incorporate — shimmery lipstick or glittery eye shadow or a metallic hair accessory is all it takes. France Luxe makes classic and elegant hair accessories well-designed and crafted durably.
